Nacirema Society- Goodman Theatre

In modern society we are accustomed to experiencing sound through headphones and television speakers. As a result, the need for microphone reinforced plays has become more necessary. To that end, I am often tasked with designing sound system to support audio playback as well as spoken word. When reinforcing a play, a balance must be struck between clarity of vocals and hearing the microphone amplification. If the amplification is too heavy, the audience may be taken out of the realism achieved by the production. In addition, there must be extra care placed on hiding the microphone elements themselves.
