The successful story telling of Proximity required extensive use of technology. Unlike classic operas, we put mics the singers and the musicians. As a musical mixer entering the opera world, I needed to adjust my ear to match the specific opera aesthetic. The tonal quality of each instrument, and not vocal clarity took top priority.
